Joelle Zlaket was born in Scottsdale, Arizona USA, to Lebanese parents. She graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in Political Science and earned a certificate in International Studies in the Spring of 2008. While completing her degree she interned at the Lebanese Embassy in Washington DC in 2007. She also founded the Lebanese Students Association (LSA) at her university and stood President for two years. During this time, she was heavily involved in the Lebanese Collegiate Network (LCN).

In the Summer of 2008, she decided to move to Lebanon to get in touch with her Lebanese roots, study Arabic and find ways to engage in civil society initiatives and the non-profit sector. Living in Beirut, Lebanon from 2008-2021, she had the opportunity to work in the areas of volunteerism, emigrant research, environmental-green initiatives, actively supporting the advancement of STEM education initiatives, business development, and engaging the private and public sector in various projects and partnerships.

After moving back to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2021, Joelle now works for Arizona State University managing the Sponsored Student Initiatives office for students who are studying in the United States on third party government or private scholarships. Actively engaging with consulates, embassies, and cultural missions in the US to support international students studying in the United States. She is always connected to her community at her work meeting Lebanese students who come to the US to study abroad and supporting them in their aspirations.
