Ed White assumed his duties as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in August 2017.
Ed is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. From 2015 to 2017, he served as Deputy Director for Syria in the State Department's Office of Levant Affairs. Earlier assignments include the U.S. Mission to NATO in Brussels, and our embassies in Baghdad, Cairo, Damascus, and Caracas. Ed is a 2015 graduate of the National Defense University's Eisenhower School. He also is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and practiced public finance and construction law before joining the Foreign Service. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from Notre Dame, Ed served for four years as a U.S. Army officer.
